As you could see the previous weekend we have been resting and discovering one of the corners of our beloved Extremadura: the Countryside South. One of the many regions away from the hustle and bustle of the region.
The site chosen for Hospedería rest was the Mirador de Llerena , stately old palace of the early twentieth century , then known as "Casa de Dona Mariana", worth visiting for itself. This inn is a new area and an old area, this difference is important because the rooms of an area and have nothing else to do, being better the old area that are large rooms decorated traditionally
and therefore have far more charm than
rooms to the modern, comfortable and functional but there's nothing special.
Within the Countryside South made three visits to places very different:
The first was the Jayona mine, an old abandoned iron mine some 90 years ago. At this mine we could see was the mountain after years and years of mineral extraction.
The guided tour allows you to immerse yourself in a rocky world, where you can explore the tunnels and caves of the site and discover the natural and geological quirks that were in place after the passage of the bill, the upper and dynamite. To visit the place you have to make an appointment to the council Fuente del Arco, or as we did call the phone number you gave us a day before the Tourist office Llerena.
third place are the Roman remains of Regina , among which the Roman Theatre for their good state of conservation . Obviously compared with those of Emerita Augusta remain small, but still interesting to see the remains bimillennium of this ancient city in his time inhabited 5000 Roman inhabitants.
was to visit such as the Arab castle of Queen can be seen at the top of the mountain in the photo next to you, and where in the foreground you can see some Roman remains Regina.
